Privacy Policy for PeakNav
We are the developers of the PeakNav app.
This Privacy Statement describes how PeakNav ("We", "our", "us") collects, uses, and shares information about you through our mobile application PeakNav (the "App"). The App recognizes the importance of personal data treatment and pursues a careful policy of data safety.
By using the App or our Services, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Statement.
Users of our application ("the App") are required to use their personal account of an identity provider (e.g. Google or Apple), which is then federated to grant access to our cloud provider (Amazon AWS). Through this authentication process, a unique user identifier ("ID") is generated and linked to the user. This unique user identifier does not contain any personal information, although both identity pools and cloud providers will retain data necessary for reconnecting to personal user accounts.
Upon installation, specific information is gathered, including device type, operating system, and usage data. These data are anonymized and do not contain any personal information.
To ensure fair usage of our services, access to download traffic from our Services is limited to users via an identity provider (e.g., Google or Apple accounts), federated to our cloud provider (Amazon AWS). Each user is assigned a unique ID, which we use to monitor download activity. When a download request is made, we record the unique ID along with details such as IP address, date and time, device type, identity provider, email address and system version. We track the number of files requested and their total volume per user, as well as connection-related data like source IP address. This monitoring is crucial for identifying and addressing potential excessive usage by individual users. Additionally, we collect aggregate statistics on request geolocation and requested files to enhance the overall service experience.
The App integrates services provided by third-party providers, each of which maintains its own privacy statements:
We do not share user-related information with any third party not listed above unless required by law, to prevent crime, or to protect the integrity of our App and Services.
Users acknowledge and agree to be bound by the respective privacy policies of the following third-party providers, necessary for the content offered in the App:
In the event of user subscriptions to paid services, pertinent information is retained to facilitate user access to the subscribed services.
Any information provided to us during communication, support requests, or initiated by the user will be collected by us.
User activity within the App contributes to the generation of aggregate statistics, such as total service traffic volume and the overall number of requests made to our services. These statistics do not contain personally identifiable information but are derived from aggregated data of individual user activities. The collection of aggregate statistics is necessary to enhance the quality of services provided by the App.
Logging, in the context of our App, refers to the transmission of reports to our cloud provider. These reports contain anonymous information aimed at enhancing the App, such as crash reports, frozen screens, or malfunctions. Users have the option to opt-out of this anonymized data collection. Consent for logging can be managed within the App settings, allowing users to opt-out at any time by toggling off the data collection feature.
Users of the App have the option to share images captured by the device camera or loaded from the device gallery to other applications. This action is entirely discretionary and subject to the user's choice. It is important to note that the act of sharing such imagery may entail the processing of user data by third-party entities.
We retain your information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Statement, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.
In the event of a transfer of ownership or control of PeakNav or its assets, including the App, whether through an acquisition, merger, sale, or other means, user information, including personal data collected through the App, may be transferred to the acquiring entity. By continuing to use the App, you consent to such transfer and agree that any successor or acquiring entity may continue to use your information as set forth in this Privacy Statement.
While we take reasonable measures to safeguard your information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction, it's important to note that no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is entirely secure. Therefore, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We may update this Privacy Statement from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by posting a notice in the App prior to the change becoming effective. Your continued use of the App after the effective date of the revised Privacy Statement constitutes your acceptance of the terms.
If you have any questions or concerns about this Privacy Statement or our data practices, please contact us at [email protected].
